Get Set Grow 2013 - cancelled

Garden Organic regrets to announce that the Get Set Grow event is cancelled today.  This is due to the severe weather and the health and safety risk.

We are very disappointed and sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and would like to welcome you to our gardens when spring arrives!

Get Set Grow returns this year to Ryton Gardens on Saturday 23rd March - 10am - 4pm

Visitors will be able to discover the joys of growing their own organic food - with hundreds of free plants being given away - at Ryton Gardens.

Garden Organic - the UK’s leading organic growing charity - will be holding its “Get Set, Grow!” event at its home Ryton Gardens from 10am to 4pm.

Visitors will be able to have a go at potting basil, beetroot and lettuce plug plants and sowing seeds, which they can then take home for free.

And the charity’s Master Gardeners and Master Composters will be on hand to offer expert advice on all aspects of growing fruit and vegetables the organic way.

Garden Organic Event Coordinator Helen Kendrick said: “If you want to get spring off to a great start then come along to Get Set, Grow!

“There will be lots of activities for everyone - whether you want to learn how to grow your own food or just have a fun day out.”

Children will have a chance to cook their own organic food and follow a special trail around Ryton’s ten acres of beautiful organic gardens.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy guided tours of the gardens and the Heritage Seed Library, which protects hundreds of endangered vegetable varieties.

They can also meet members of Five Acre Farm, a Community Supported Agriculture Scheme which brings together local farmers and residents who want to buy their produce.
