Spring

  • The deep purple Clematis viticella is smothered in flowers. The petals are almost iridescent and look wonderful against the lush green foliage.

  • The bright purple betony (Stachys officinalis) in the Herb Garden looks fantastic in front of a backdrop of yellow. Betony is a native of Europe and flowers during mid-summer, from July to September.

Autumn

  • The delicately coloured and wonderfully flavoured raspberry ‘Autumn Gold’ is ripening in the Soft Fruit Gardens, and they are truly delicious!

  • The Berberis thumbergii in the Shrub Borders is a wonderful deep maroon colour and is currently bearing bright red berries.

  • Apples in the Top Fruit Garden are growing rapidly. The variety ‘Winter Gem’ is looking particularly attractive, with the skin of the tasty fruit having a delicate pink-red blush.
